King’s Castle
Aforetime Benighted
Chapter I
Welcome
These events were thought to be lost in time, however these stories are all there is left. They are highly perceived to be one hundred percent accurate. This book was found many years ago. Did it really happen? We leave it up to you to decide.
I find myself here approaching the King’s Castle, yet not even light out. Hoping I’m let in, my King sent me to this place. I hate myself for being gone, as my home town being invaded. I don’t even know whom or what had destroyed it, it really makes me sick.
The King and his youngest Daughter as of now, are all that’s left. Shes young, but had seen the things that had did this. Sadly she completely failed to give me an idea, of they really were. The King was positive he understood her. They spoke of them as creatures, not men. They promised they looked like average men, but acted more like corrupted gods.
What am I doing here, this is an absolutely absurd course of action. Why send me away to protect a new town? What the hell was he thinking? Sending me, the only protection they had left? Is this my punishment or is it something else? What could have happened, would they try to hide information from me?
This makes my head hurt, glad I’m at the castle now. I wonder if anyone is around to open the gate for me, a stranger in the dawn. I wonder if I’m even welcome.
The gate’s peeper hole opened slowly. “Who goes there, ye be friend or ye be foe?” I speak up “Friend, I have been sent here by my King.” Looking shocked he questions me and my motives. “Why would a King send ye you away?” I try to explain myself, best I can at this time of the morning. “My home town was attacked and nearly destroyed. I was sent here to protect this town, because the ones who attacked us are still near by.” Understanding my tale he asks me who I am. “I am Leo the White, I was the King’s Knight of Light” Happy to hear this, he lets me in and invites me to speak to their King. I’m told to seek him at dawn’s first light. Finally I felt welcome, as gladly enter what I hope will be my new home. It seemed the place was empty, not shock with the time of day.
I’m then pointed to a maiden, and told to follow her. She would be my guide till I see the King. I hate to admit it, but I found her to be the most beautiful woman I’d even seen. She reminded me so much of my former King’s Queen. We sat down together near the King’s throne room, awaiting the first lights of dawn.
After some time she looked at me, she smiled happily “I bet your strong and important, why else would a King send you to protect us.” I smile back “Thanks, I’m…” She cut me off. “You’re Leo the white, The Knight of Light…” she giggles. I clear my throat, “Why yes, I am. Who might you be my fair Maiden?” Shocked, she replied “Me, you want to know who I am? That is sweet. I am Sydney, they say I’m like a riverside meadow. I guess It’s because I calm people down, That’s why I greet most of our guests. I tell her, “Your name really suits you.”
Light begins to shine over the castle walls. The time to explain myself the this new King, Sydney’s King. We get up and head toward the door.
These few following events, must have happen around that same time of day. We have added them in, to fill some of history’s gapes. It is still unclear, but these events have been proven to be accurate.
At the King’s Castle of Leo’s former home, day has just began. The King walks into his young daughter’s room, she’s very sick but begins questioning her father.
“Daddy, why did you send away the Knight of Light?” The king breathing slowly. As he to has the same sickness. “Sweetheart… One of men who destroyed our town, has cursed us with the same illness as our lost people. Do you see our skin is breaking out in black spots, I love you so much… so so much, but I cannot lie to you. We aren’t long for this world, we have little time left.”
As the princess cries she forgives her father for sending Leo away. He holds his child, and tells her to rest.
Sometime later, after the King had talked with me about the last few hours. We begin talking about my future, and my own plans for it.
“Thank you King of Sydney, you have been kind to me.” The King corrects him “Please, don’t refer to me as others King. I shall be your King as of this moment, and you my Knight of Light.” Happy to hear the good news “Thank you my King, I’m here to protect your town. I myself do not know of the enemy’s appearances, but I still promise to stop them.” Sydney interrupts “I knew he’d promise, I see good things in his and our future.” The King speaking to Sydney “Now calm yourself, there isn’t a reason to interrupt us now. I trust this man as is, but thank you for your faith in him. I shall will remember that, as will he.” I agree “Yes, I will remember that, and thank you Sydney, for trusting in me so quickly.” The King then tells Sydney to show me to my room, and help to make myself at home.
Sydney and I walk out and toward my new quarters. As far as I can tell, she’s yet to stop smiling since we met. I wish I knew what she was thinking, is she happy because of me?
“When I was little, my father had told me to look out for someone. He talked as if my life depended on it, he told me they would be a Knight of Light. I suppose you’re the one, my Knight in shining armor.” She then quickly stops and blushes. “I’m sorry, please don’t take me as a loon. I didn’t mean it to sound…” I stop her by correcting her. “You haven’t came off as a how you put it, loon. I feel that there is a great reason I’m here now. Besides protecting you, and this place.” Smiling she nods. “I couldn’t agree more, I know you’re the one my father spoke of.”
We make it to my new place, and It’s bigger than I expected. She looks at me worried “I hope it’s big enough for you.” I reassure her “Of course! It’s fine, It’s larger than my last chamber. It looks big enough for two…” She smiles “I thought you’d say that… Well if you had a companion or partner, they’d have enough room too.”
I question her for a bit, I ask where does she stay. She explains it’s her dad’s old chamber, and that’s its right across from mine. I ask if she or the King chose my Chamber, and she tells me she did.
She smiles “I’ll leave you to rearranging your room now, If you need me I’m be in my chamber. It’s been a long night for me, and I’d guess you too. Get some rest soon.”
I look around and I know, I feel at home here. Even more so than my home. After living all of my life, twenty-two years two months and seven days… I feel I’m where I belong. I must sleep now… I’m so very tired now.
As I lay in my new bed, I wonder what Sydney thinks of me. Sadly I want to forget the home I left. I’m sorry they are all gone, but I must move on. I continue to think of Sydney, but why? Maybe I love her, or maybe I’m going crazy.
I can’t hold my eyes open any longer I’m about to, to pass out…
